The Sons of Confederate Veterans was founded in 1896 in Richmond, Virginia and is the oldest hereditary organization of male descendants of Confederate soldiers and sailors. The purpose of the SCV is to honor ancestors through the preservation of history and heritage, to care for the widows and disabled, and to emulate the virtues and principles of their fathers.
