Mission

O'Fallon, Illinois was designated a Main Street Community in 1996. Its' mission: to imporve the quality of life by strengthening downtown O'Fallon through concentrated efforts in organization, promotion, design and economic restructuring.

Main Street O'Fallon manages and directs growth toward the rehabilitation of historic buildings and the redevelopment of existing utilities, services, and infrastructure offering the most efficient and cost-effective approach to preserving the community's identity, social character and heritage while enhancing it's visibility and quality of life. Since 1996, Main Street O'Fallon has played a significant role in the progress and preservation of our historic downtown area. Main Street O'Fallon has successfully contributed to:

-Securing a grant to fund the 2003 downtown streetscape

-Securing and funding a grant for historic preservation and traffic improvements.

-Funding the awning/paint program for enhanciing the facade of many downtown businesses.

-Securing grants in cooperation with the city and downtown business owners for building improvements.

-Restoring the Red Caboose, originally built in 1961, which now serves as a focal point for all Main Street activities.

-Ongoing programs and events that bring community members together in downtown O'Fallon.

-Ongoing efforts to bring new businesses to the downtown area.

-Ongoing efforts to attract community members and visitors to downtown merchants.
