Maine School Administrative District No 12

606 Main Street
207-668-5291

Maine School Administrative District #12 was organized in July of 1959 to serve the communities of Jackman and Moose River, Maine. Forest Hills School was built in 1961 and included an elementary and high school wing separated by a central gymnasium. In 1985, an addition was built to house the home economics, industrial arts and central offices. An additional wing was added in 1988 for middle school students (vacating the Sacred Heart Convent building they had been attending) along with a commons area, library, special education department and kitchen and locker rooms.

The building now accommodates all children from M.S.A.D. #12 in separate wings. Children share the services of the gymnasium, home economics, industrial arts, commons dining area, library and special education. There are currently approximately 190 students in grades K-12. M.S.A.D. #12 also provides an adult education program for area residents, as well as Education Network of Maine college courses via satellite and GED preparation assistance.
