Our mission is to create an atmosphere that will allow teachers to provide the needed education for each student to become a literate, caring, employable citizen.

Maltby is located near Mt. Brighton in Brighton, Michigan. We are a growing community. Our building houses approximately 850 sixth, seventh, and eighth graders this year. We believe and support the middle school philosophy, where students are placed on a team for language arts, math, social studies and science. Teams may be a two, three, or four person academic teaching team. Students may take up to eight elective classes during the school year, as students change electives each quarter. This offers students an opportunity to explore a variety of educational experiences. Maltby Middle School and the Brighton Area School are North Central Accredited. Students, staff, and parents like our building. PTO is an active organization at Maltby where parents are encouraged to actively participate in their child's educational experience. Sports such as cross country, basketball, swimming, volleyball, wrestling, and track and field are offered to boys and girls. Other activities such as monthly activity nights, skiing, Odyssey of the Mind, and chess club are offered throughout the year. Also, a variety of activities are offered to students through community education. Maltby is an opportunity to watch young people grow and learn in a positive educational environment. We are proud of our building and the Brighton Area Schools.
