Mission Statement:
Marcellus United Methodist Church is committed to be a loving, friendly and caring family of spiritually alive Christians, devoted to inspiring and educating its members to be responsive to the changing needs of individuals, the community and the world.

History:

Methodist Preachers first appeared in Marcellus about 1909-1810. The first meeting house was a barn located on west hill and the first church was built in 1824 on west hill. In 1832 they moved their building to the village and in 1856 they constructed a brick building which served the congregation for 21 years. Following a bad fire, the present building was built in 1878 using the old buildinng foundation. The clock and tower were added in 1909 and the large Wesley Hall addition was added in 1961.

Fifty two preachers have led the Marcellus congregation over the past 187 years. During that time the congregation has grown and still continues to serve the members and community in many ways. Several from the congregation have entered into full time ministry service and many have answered their country's call to serve in the military.

Presently the church sponsors a daily nursery school during the school year, senior citizen dinners each Thursday, and sponsors both Cub and Boy Scout Troops.

The Church Programs include Sunday school classes for all ages each Sunday at 9:30. Church Services begin at 10:30, with cookie and cofee fellowship following. The choir rehearses Thursday evenings and various committees meet on regular schedules. Both a United Womens' and Mens' Association meet weekly and/or monthly. Jr. High and Sr. High programs are enjoyed by Methodist Youth and their friends.

The United Methodist Church of Marcellus offers a Church Home to all who Love God and seek further Christian information.
