Maureen Carlson's Center For Creative Arts

102 Water Street

History
In 1998, Dan and Maureen Carlson took on the challenge of turning a 19th century boarding house into a place for Maureen to carry out her dream of a Retreat Center for the Creative Arts. The house was big, and it was basically sound. But what really sold the house was its location on the banks of Sand Creek in the picturesque town of Jordan, Minnesota. Inside there was "potential" as they say: the potential for a lot of work! But the power of the dream worked its magic. Today the Center is a place filled with little clay people and whimsical dolls, polymer clay drawer pulls and the joy of creative imagination. The Center opened in 1999 to a full schedule of classes.

Now, eight years later, in an effort to provide a more descriptive name to the larger community, the name has changed to: Maureen Carlson's Center for Creative Arts. The building remains the educational branch of Wee Folk Creations, which is the polymer clay design, mail order and web business of Maureen and Dan Carlson.

The building continues to be an inspirational work in progress in which they invite you to share - whether through a visit, an afternoon class or an extended retreat. In this charming space you have the chance to learn a wide variety of creative arts and polymer clay related techniques, create cartoon characters, sculpt life-like dolls, design jewelry, and explore the excitement of color, texture and form. You might even discover yourself.
