The Meigs County Historical Society was organized in 1876. It is believed to be the oldest continuous historical society in the State of Ohio, having held an annual meeting every year since its organization. The Meigs County Historical Society, a nonprofit, 501(c)(3) corporation, holds annual membership in the Ohio Historical Society, Ohio Museums Association and the Ohio Association of Historical Societies and Museums, but is not an affiliate of any state or local organization.
