Our students are encouraged to excel in all areas of learning, to respect cultural diversity, and to become valued members of society. We strive to develop lifelong learners within a safe, nurturing and supportive environment. By creating innovative, well-balanced programs that challenge the unique abilities of all students, we are able to nurture each child's potential. We are educating the leaders of tomorrow and value the belief that children come first.

About us

Menands Union Free School, one of the leading public schools in the New York State Capital Region, houses grades K-8. Located in the Village of Menands, the school occupies ten acres and has a census of approximately 240 children. In addition to the core curriculum, students study Spanish, art, computer literacy, library, music, technology, physical education, home and careers, and health.

Menands School has many traditions, including a formal eighth grade graduation ceremony, complete with caps and gowns. The school newspaper is entitled PawPrints, named for the tiger, our school mascot. The curriculum is enhanced with field trips and assemblies.

The Menands faculty and staff are very accessible and welcome parental input. The school focuses on a team approach, both within and outside of the school.

After attending Menands School, a student is equipped with the skills needed to be successful in higher learning.
