Our History

Midway Presbyterian Church began as a
Sunday School Class, an offshoot
of Decatur Presbyterian Church. The Sunday
School Class began meeting on May 17, 1874,
under a brush arbor near the corner of
Memorial Drive and Covington Highway.

Two years later the presbytery chartered the
Midway Presbyterian Church, established on
July 29, 1876 at our current location.

The founding pastor was Rev. Donald Frazer.

Our current sanctuary was dedicated on Palm
Sunday, 196

We desire to pass on our baton of faith
to a new generation of believers.

We are guided by a rich heritage that-
honors God in worship,
honors the spiritual gift of all members,
honors different opinions respectfully and constructively,
honors the Presbyterian way of life.

We are open to variety with integrity
as we seek to share the Gospel
in the reality of our multi-ethnic neighborhood.

Our hope lies in a future
where all God's people in South DeKalb
feel welcome to worship, serve and learn
at Midway Presbyterian.
