PAGEANT TO BENEFIT OLDHAM COUNTY RED CROSS

Buckner, KY - The Miss Heart of America Pageant is coming to Oldham County! Oldham County's Miss Heart of America Pageant will be held Saturday, May 21, 2011 at 4pm at Soiree, located at 1228 Market Street in LaGrange. This pageant is a food drive for Oldham County American Red Cross. Oldham County Red Cross is the oldest non-governmental agency in Oldham County, and they receive absolutely no government funding.  They rely completely on volunteers and donations to sustain their many programs. Miss Heart of America is proud to partner with Oldham County Red Cross.

Each pageant contestant is required to turn in a minimum of 10 non perishable food items. The pageant is open to all ages. A winner, first, and second runner-up will be awarded in each of the eight age divisions. We will also be awarding a very special title called the "Queen of Hearts". This title is awarded to the contestant who turns in the most non perishable food items. Contestants must pre-register at www.missheartofamerica.com/oldhamcountyky . Attire is casual wear. No pageant dress is needed until  the State and National Competitions.

The Miss Heart of America Pageant strives to provide our contestants with the opportunity to have fun, establish lasting friendships, build confidence, and self-esteem; all while encouraging them to get involved with organizations in their community, that benefit those in need. Our Queens are involved at the local level with organizations such as the Humane Society, March of Dimes, Children's Hospitals, etc.

This pageant system began in 2007 as a food drive for a rescue mission, whose pantry was almost bare. It has now blossomed into a National Pageant Program that has distributed over 100,000 non perishable food items to non- profit organizations, collected toys for Toys for Tots, and collected and distributed much needed items for numerous Women's Centers.
