New Covenant Church

631 Efird Street
704-865-7729

Our Mission:

Our mission is to win people to the Lord, to disciple them, and to have them in turn disciple others. Our goal is to reach Gaston County with the Gospel, raise up ministries both in and out of our country, establish new churches, and raise up new ministers for the next generation.

Our Purpose:

As a dynamic church proclaiming the Word of God, our objective is to bring people to Jesus Christ, to establish relationships in His family, to encourage them toward spiritual maturity, to equip them for their ministry in the church, to evangelize the world for Christ, and to exalt His name.

Our Heritage:

Pastor John Pelonero Founded New Covenant Church on October 15, 1985. The church started with nine members meeting in a private home. Their first location was at a Christian restaurant "Sun Station" in the Gaston Mall. After a short time the church moved to a former nightclub on 321 South and was there for eight years. In April 1987, 15 acres were purchased at the end of the then dead-end Efird Street. In February of 1993 the first permanent church building was constructed (where the church is currently meeting). In 1997 an access road was built to extend Efird Street to Hudson Blvd. Suddenly the church was located on an outstanding piece of property bordering Hudson Blvd. The location suddenly became highly visible and easily accessible.

In 1995 God began showing Pastor John in what direction New Covenant was to go. After several starts, the church has embarked on an ambitious program of training disciples called "We Build People". Plans are in the works to construct a feeding and community center. New Covenant hopes to be able to minister to people in the surrounding community and reach out to those that are hurting as well as make disciples.
