All that we are, and all that we possess in civilization, we owe to the everlasting aspiration and struggle of Mankind before us, and to the slow accumulation of knowledge and art on the topmost level of which we now stand. Our immense debt to Mankind in the past can only be repaid to Mankind in the future. It is our privilege, if we don't regard it as our duty, to pass on in ever finer shapes, traditions which have been handed to us." This is a quote from a Nichols document that was delivered at the Nichols.

The Nichols learning community maintains five major beliefs that guide our work with students:

  •  All students should be challenged academically and supported in the completing of assigned work with an emphasis on quality.
  •  All students should be afforded the opportunity to participate in discussions and activities that allow them to find their talents and interests as individuals.
  •  All Nichols staff, students and parents should participate together in creating a respectful and civil community in which everyone feels supported and mistakes become a learning experience.
  •  All students can contribute to their community and the school can be helpful in providing opportunities for service through such activties as the Good Deed program, student council, PTA, and the Boosters.
  •  All Nichols staff, students and parents should use computers and software as instructional tools for learning.
