Our mission:

To encourage economic development and sustainable commerce in the Ninilchik greater community.

Hello from the panoramic village of Ninilchik Alaska, located on the majestic shores of the Cook Inlet. Ninilchik is centrally located between Soldotna and Homer, 180 miles south of Anchorage. Ninilchik is a small fishing village that lives up to its given name “peaceful settlement by a river.”You can fish for salmon and steelhead in our rivers, hop on a day charter for halibut, salmon or ling cod in the salt, ski, mush or snow-machine in our hills. Try camping in our many State Parks and Recreational Areas, clam for razors or beachcomb for agates, sea glass or untold treasure on our tidal flats, or just sit back, relax and watch the sun setting behind the volcanoes that rise across the Inlet from us. Check out our local commercial fishermen coming in with their catch in our harbor or meander down to Deep Creek as the tractors launch the charter fleet.

Photograph the historical Russian Orthodox Church of Transfiguration, the breathtaking panoramic views of the Mt Redoubt and Iliamna, amble along the shores or trails and photograph the abundant wildlife, exquisite Bald Eagles or the colorful wildflowers.

The peaceful “small town” atmosphere of Ninilchik and its central location halfway between the cities of Homer and Soldotna make it the ideal place to stay as you tour the Kenai Peninsula of today. In Ninilchik you can even visit the Alaska of years past with a walking tour of historic “Old Village” and a short hike up to the iconic Russian Orthodox Church of Transfiguration on the beach bluffs above town.

Here, you can also come to enjoy a few “big city” events happening throughout the seasons, such as the Kenai Peninsula Fair, Salmonstock Music Festival and the Clam Scramble. Or you can just come to relax and unwind, enjoy the peaceful tranquility and let the bona fide Alaskans of Ninilchik show you the secrets of this special place we call home.

Come join us and create your own piece of history. We promise, you can’t help but fall in love!
