The North Boston Volunteer Fire Company was founded in September of 1904, after a fire destroyed Schunk's Hotel. Local resident Fred Frank rallied the men of the town to form the first fire company. A small hand cart with a Gould pump mounted on it was the company's first piece of fire apparatus. The original hand pumper is on display at the Boston Historical Society Museum. The North Boston Fire Company 50 Active Members are lead by Chief Sean P Crotty and President Donald O'Bryant, is supported by a Ladies Auxiliary as well as sponsors Boy Scouts of America Explorer Post 124.
