The Northwest Suburban Chamber of Commerce began in 1957 in an effort to improve service by an independent telephone company in the Hamel, MN area.

Since then, the Chamber has compiled a long list of business and civic achievements and events that include the Annual Hamel Rodeo. The Chamber is one of six community organizations that unite as one to produce this world-class event. People from all over the country now know about the Rodeo in Hamel. Out of over 700 PRCA rodeos in the US and Canada each year, the Hamel Rodeo is in the upper six percent as far as prize money is concerned. The Hamel Rodeo has attracted national sponsors such as Budweiser, Dodge Trucks, U.S. Tobacco and Montana Silversmiths. We have demonstrated for 24 years to visitors that we are a community of people and businesses coming together to produce a community event.

This area has become a mix of residential and industrial development and is popular with homebuyers who want to combine the benefits of living in the country with the convenience of being close to the Twin Cities. The Chamber’s Welcome Bags are distributed to the Corcoran, Greenfield, Hanover, Loretto, Medina and Rockford city halls and are given to new residents in the area. The bags are filled with information about our communities and businesses.
