About the Arts Center :

The Oldham County Schools Arts Center opened in August 2004 in the heart of Crestwood.  The Center serves the region as a performing and visual arts center, an arts school, and an adult, family, and community education center.  Housed in the former Crestwood Baptist Church, portions of the Center are on the National Register for Historic Places and date from 1873.  The buildings span of 46,000 square feet includes a 450-seat performance hall, two art galleries, a dance studio and rehearsal space, music and visual arts studios, conference rooms, classrooms, and a large multi-purpose room.

The conversion to an arts center began in November 2001 with the purchase of the buildings and grounds by the Oldham County Board of Education. The purchase and maintenance of the Center was made possible with funds provided by Oldham County Fiscal Court from an annual donation made by Dynegy, Inc.  Although there was widespread community support as well with many organizations and individuals donating time and additional funds to help launch the Center.  These "Friends of the Arts Center " include the Oldham County Educational Foundation, the Peyton Samuel Head Family Trust, Business and Professional Women/Oldham County, the Sutherland Foundation, and many others.

Renovation and improvements continue at the Arts Center. In July 2005, the Center completed renovation of the Performance Hall, providing the 450-seat space with a new stage, updated lighting, and other improvements. The Center has completed the Business and Professional Women/Oldham County Gallery with new lighting and hanging system.
