Orange Rotary Club

The Orange Rotary Club was founded in 1967 to serve both the Orange community and the world at large. The club is part of an organization which consists of 1.3 million members in more than 30,000 Rotary clubs from 163 countries. Rotary is an organization of business and professional leaders united worldwide who provide humanitarian service, encourage high ethical standards in all vocations, and help build goodwill and peace in the world.

The main objective of Rotary is service in the community, in the workplace, and throughout the world. Rotarians develop community service projects that address many of today's most critical issues, such as children at risk, poverty and hunger, the environment, illiteracy, and violence. They also support programs for youth, educational opportunities and international exchanges for students, teachers, and other professionals, and vocational and career development. The Rotary motto is Service Above Self.

The Orange Rotary Club strives to continually meet those goals. Each year the club gives scholarships to area students, contributes food to local food banks, and distributes dictionaries to every third grade student in Orange. In addition, the club runs the AMBER Alert project in this area, protecting our children from abduction. We are also involved in international projects including purchasing boats for Indian fishermen affected by the recent Tsunami and helping start an orphanage in Kenya for children affected by that country's AIDs epidemic. The Orange Rotary club is always prepared to help our community and the world as needed.
