Orwigsburg Historical Society & Museum

109 East Mifflin Street
570-366-8769

The mission of the Orwigsburg Historical Society is to promote, through the establishment and maintenance of a repository, museum, and allied projects, a program that will foster understanding and appreciation by the community of its history, art, culture, and natural environment.

Featuring an expansive collection of memorabilia, published works, a genealogical library, and artifacts representing Orwigsburg and Southern Schuylkill County, the society is housed in the former Friendship Fire Co., built between 1890 and 1891.  An extensive interpretive display tells the story of Orwigsburg and Southern Schuylkill County from its earliest settlers through the development of agriculture, industry, and transportation.  A detailed archaeological exhibit highlights this display.  The society, located at 109 East Mifflin Street, is open every Thursday, 12:00 - 4:00 and by appointment. Groups are always welcome.  A community room is also available for programs and meetings.  Call 570-366-8769 or 570-617-7809 for additional information.
