Osage Hills Country Club

Osage Hills Country Club began as a dream - a dream that the St. Paul Area Community could have a country club-like facility with a restaurant, swimming pool, picnic area, fishing lake, and sand green golf course. With dedication and hard work the dream was converted into a reality. A not-for-profit organization was formed in 1970 and a site, known among locals as Sevart Hill, was secured. A federal loan from the Farmer's Home Administration (FmHA) provided the financing to make the project a reality.

Osage Hills Country Club Storm June 1973 Picture 1The complex formally opened on June 11, 1972. Membership that first year was 167 families.

On May 11, 1973, a windstorm or tornado ripped through the area and destroyed the restaurant and damaged the pool house.

Pictured at left is the original clubhouse building after the storm damage. The picture is taken from the west looking east through the original doors into the clubhouse. The original sidewalk to the clubhouse, still in use today, is visible in the foreground.

The picture at right was taken at the northeast corner of the building looking south toward the east end of the original clubhouse. The east wall of the building is laying on the ground.

The group persevered, rebuilt the restaurant and repaired the pool house. A new 60 by 40 foot metal building was approved for the restaurant, which was almost 50 percent larger than the original clubhouse. The club reopened in time for the 1974 summer season.

The Club has survived and thrived over the years due to generous contributions of time and talent - contributions from dedicated Board Members and other volunteers, many of whom have contributed small portions of their lives to ensure that the facility prospered.

Osage Hills Country Club is governed by an elected, seven member Board of Directors. The Board meets on the second Tuesday of each month at 8:00 p.m. in the Restaurant. Board meetings are open to all members and members are encouraged to take an active interest in the organization. Were it not for the involvement and interest of our membership base, we would not be here
