1212 Washington Avenue
505-437-2970

Mission :

Our Mission is to Proclaim the Gospel of Christ, to Worship through Word and Sacrament, and to Nurture all People to the Christian Faith.

History:

Our Savior Lutheran Church was organized in 1959 as result of the mission work done by The Reverend Walter Frey, who was also the first pastor. It first met at the Oregon School, moving in 1960 to an old church building near downtown Alamogordo. The present buildings of contemporary Scandinavian design were built in 1966.

The seven pastors who have served at Our Savior are Walter Frey, Robert Harloff, Emmett Schmitt, Philip Ramstad, Mark Braaten, Michael Struck, and Bruce Freeman.

Our Savior is an active congregation with members participating in Council, Committees, Adult Choir, WELCA, Women's Groups, Bible Study Circles, Sharing-in -Ministry Teams, Altar Guild, Quilters, Youth Group, Brownies, Sunday School, Vacation Bible School, Team Sports, and Golf.

In December 1993 the Congregation adopted the following "Mission Statement".

"Our Mission is to proclaim the Gospel of Christ; to worship through Word and Sacrament; to love and nurture all people in Christian Faith."

We are a family of faith, gathered together by the Gospel of Jesus Christ. We are called together to share in the joy and the outreach of our Lord.

We are convinced as a congregation that worship is central for who we are. We offer two worship services on Sunday Mornings. The 10:30 A.M. service is a less formal service. We use piano music and a contemporary liturgy. The 8:00 A.M. service is traditional Lutheran Worship using the Evangelical Lutheran Worship Book with organ accompaniment.

We have been richly blessed as a congregation. Our calling is to serve the Lord who has redeemed us and called us into life. COME AND SHARE WITH US.
