Palermo Show Stable

Do you know a horse crazy kid? Throughout our summer camp sessions, students receive daily riding instruction along with lessons on veterinary care, nutrition, and other equine related topics. Campers will actually feed and care for their assigned horse with their partners. The campers will also learn from a farrier and watch a horse being shod. We also provide stabling to those participants with their own horse (Normal boarding rates apply).

Campers will learn the basics of horse care and horsemanship in a safe, fun, and controlled atmosphere headed by an experienced riding instructor along with camp counselors. Your child will have the opportunity to demonstrate their newly acquired skills on Friday, "Parents Day," when the camp will hold its own horse show at 1:00PM. All campers will compete and show demonstrate what they have learned. Everyone receives ribbons and awards. After the show there will be a potluck lunch.

When not mounted or involved in horse care, children will participate in a horse-related craft, as well as games and activities relating to the horse. Palermo also provides an extensive video library for viewing during camp, plus a large book/magazine library.

Afternoons are spent eating lunch, making crafts, and playing on our child-size course of horse jumps. In the event of rain, all activities will be held in our indoor arena.

Week 4 is a specialized Horse Show/Performance Camp. Open to all riders with some experience, campers will learn many aspects of horse shows. Skills such as horse show preparation, proper turnout, rules, and more will be tought and applied at a horse show on the last day of camp.

Children need to bring a lunch, a snack, and a personalized water jug. Children should arrive in their riding clothes (helmet, long pants or riding pants, and boots with a low heel). Paddock or riding boots should be ordered before camp. We will only allow riders to use an ASTM approved riding helmet with a fully functional chin strap.

Aftercare is available. Campers will continue to learn during these aftercare sessions. All campers are automatically enrolled in a drawing for one free lesson...campers enrolled in multiple sessions are entered multiple times.
