Palmer Township Police Department

The Board of Supervisors established the department in November 1946. The department then consisted of three members. In May 1947, an additional officer was hired to provide additional coverage for a growing community. From that time forward the department has grown to 35 sworn officers, 27 full-time and 8 part-time. Also, there are four non-uniform employees that handle a combination of dispatch and administrative functions.


The mission of the Palmer Township Police Department is to maintain a highly trained and motivated group of officers to serve both residents, of and guests to, Palmer Township; to safeguard lives and property; to protect the innocent against deception, the weak against oppression or intimidation, the peaceful against disorder; and to respect the constitutional rights of all men and women to liberty, equality and justice.

The Palmer Township Police Department actively participates in many programs provided through Local, State and Federal Funding. The Officer Phil, Bicycle Safety and Drug Awareness Programs are intended to educate our youth through awareness. Our Crime Prevention Unit along with the Child Safety Seat and Buckle Up PA Programs provide information and assistance to our residents so that they can better protect themselves when at home or while traveling.

A student Resourse Officer is also assigned to the Easton Area High School. The purpose of the SRO is to promote a better understanding of our laws, serve as a confidential source of counseling to students, protect the school environment and assist the school administration in maintaining an atmosphere where teachers feel safe to teach and students feel safe enough to learn.
