Prairie View is located on the outskirts of Sandwich at 1201 N. Castle Road. It is surrounded by open fields hence the name Prairie View. A garden of prairie grasses and plants is now being maintained and expanded by the students and friends of Prairie View.

Prairie View was originally built in 1972. Since then two additions have been built to the school. The first was the kindergarten hallway added to the north side of the building in 1992. The second is the recent expansion of the multi-purpose room (cafeteria/gymnasium) completed in 1999.

Today Prairie View contains thirteen classrooms, a library, a multi-purpose room, a music room, a resource room/social work room, a reading/speech and language room, and two mobile rooms for conferences and specialized services and therapies.
