Goals:

To continue to build our common understandings of a Balanced Literacy approach with an emphasis on embedding the practice of Reading Workshop within our literacy block. Our goal is to foster the reading - writing connection through the use of  curriculum maps to guide our work within and across grades in the areas of comprehension, decoding and word study.

To integrate problem solving skills in all aspects of our curriculum - exploring strategies that are inquiry based and require children to be metacognitive while making informed decisions and communicating their solutions.

To continue to build our capacity as a professional community of learners by refining our collaborative work within the various structures within our school - including staff development days, faculty meetings, grade level meetings and lab study partnerships.  And to seek out opportunities where we can extend this collaboration across buildings (visits with SIS, other school districts) and around the world (videoconferencing).
