Reston Interfaith is a nonprofit organization serving Northern Virginia that promotes self-sufficiency through support and advocacy for those in need of food, shelter, affordable housing, quality childcare, and other services. Founded in 1970 by area religious organizations to encourage the development of affordable housing for families and individuals in the area, the agency has since broadened its program scope and service area to address the most pressing social needs of our neighbors in Northern Virginia.

From its beginnings as a vehicle for the faith community to support its neighbors in need, Reston Interfaith has become a leading social service provider in Northern Virginia - offering comprehensive programs for more than 13,000 individuals and families in Reston, Herndon and the surrounding area last year. Services are organized and delivered through four departments, each of which offers programs for at-risk men, women and children. Through our investment, we help to build and sustain strong, vibrant neighborhoods and ensure a healthy future for the people we serve.

Reston Interfaith's effective programs and strong foundation in the community prompted Washingtonian magazine to name Reston Interfaith in its article "Making a Difference: Good Charities Where Your Money Will Be Well Spent" in 2000. In 2002, Reston Interfaith was one of only 55 nonprofits (out of more than 25,000 in the region) featured in the launch of TouchDC.org, a new regional website created to educate the community about the great work of local nonprofits. Last year, Reston Interfaith was proud to be selected The Herndon Times "2003 Citizen of the Year" for remaining devoted to working with Herndon's day laborers and the town's other new immigrant residents - sometimes in the face of fierce public opposition - and for its many other community service activities. Reston Interfaith was once again featured in the Washingtonian magazine in 2004 as an organization helping to put roofs over the heads of those less fortunate.
