In the past few years the Rossville Town Park has been undergoing a few changes, however, we have a long way to go and many more improvements are still being planned for the future. Some of the recent changes have been in landscaping. Several new bushes and perennials have been added throughout the park. New flower beds are being maintained around the park and new ones are being planned for the coming spring and summer.

A walking trail was partially completed last summer. With the acquisition of approximately four more acres of land, town employees are hoping to finish cutting the trail and putting in the base layer. The compost area located at the north end of the park has been moved to the south end to make way for two new baseball diamonds. The Rossville Baseball Association is making plans at the present time to begin construction. The Rossville Soccer League also makes it’s home at the Town Park. The league has completed two successful seasons and this fall will mark the third season for the league. Practice begins in early September and the season concludes at the end of October with Parent/Player finale games. The park can accommodate three fields. It is open to all children from ages 4 to 19. Since it’s inception two years ago, the league has grown each year.

At the present time, there is an enclosed shelter house, which is available to rent April through October. The cost is $35.00 per day for persons living within the Rossville School district and $50.00 per day for persons outside the Rossville School district. Reservations can be made at the Town Hall. This is also an open-air shelter, which the Lion’s Club donated to the park. The Town Council would like to eventually add another enclosed shelter house or gazebo.Due to the loss of Build Indiana Funds because of the budget deficits at the State level, installing new playground equipment has been delayed. The Town Council has begun setting aside surplus funds to purchase equipment. If all goes well, new equipment could possibly start appearing within the next two years. A Park Donation Fund has been set up for anyone who would like to make a donation to this community effort. If you wish to make a donation, please contact the Town Hall at 765-379-2645.
