The Episcopal Church has been present in Summit County since the early years of the gold  mining era. St. John's began in 1885 and soon became a mission of our cathedral parish in  Denver. Acquired from the congregational church, the building was moved to this site in 1891  and was dedicated in 1892 (we still use the first electric light fixtures ever installed in town).  St. John's became a parish 100 years later in 1992.

But we are not living in the past. St. John's is a lively, diverse parish family dedicated to  worshiping and proclaiming Jesus Christ and caring for all who cross our path. We hope that all  people come to know God's love for them and that they feel encouraged to share that love in the  world around them. Through worship, education, service, and pastoral care for one another, we  extend our ministry to the communities of Summit County-to residents and visitors alike.
