About Us:

Sand Point Church has a history that begins back in 1954 as a Sunday School for Sand Point after an earlier church failed. The Sunday School was brought to the attention of the Baptist General Conference in 1959. Later, the conference sent Sunday School and medical missionaries to Sand Point to both start and continue the work on the island. Both portions of the ministry grew and the church was begun in 1972. Many changes have taken place over the years. The medical side of the work is now in the hands of others, buildings have been built and one torn down but the challenge to bring a church to Sand Point that is open to all remains the same.

Today, that church is called Sand Point Chapel and is aligned with the the General Baptist and the Southern Baptist Convention. In addition, the church freely associates with the Alaska Baptist Convention and the Chugach Baptist Association. Although the church is assciated with Baptist,it is open to all Christians to worship together work together and love together as Jesus has so instructed.
