Second Baptist Church Of Festus

We believe the Holy Scriptures of the Old and New Testaments to be the verbally and plenarily inspired Word of God.

We believe the King James Version of the Bible is the inspired, preserved Word of God for the English-speaking people.

We believe God's Word is inerrant, infallible, God-breathed and, is therefore, the final authority in all matters of faith, doctrine and practice.

We believe that the sixty-six books of the Bible are God's complete, divine and only revelation to man, and that the Bible reveals God, the fall of man, the way of salvation and God's plan and purpose through the ages. The Scriptures shall be interpreted according to their normal grammatical-historical meaning. The King James Version of the Bible shall be the only translation of God's Word used in our teaching and preaching ministries.

We believe that there is only one true and living God, existing in three persons: Father, Son and Holy Ghost. Each are co-eternal in being, co-identical in nature, co-equal in power and glory, and each has the same attributes and perfections.

We believe in the deity, virgin birth, sinless life, vicarious death, bodily resurrection and ascension of Jesus Christ.

We believe in the visible, personal and premillennial return of Jesus Christ.

We believe that salvation is "by grace", plus nothing and minus nothing. The conditions of salvation are repentance and faith.

We believe that men are justified by faith alone and are accounted righteous before God only through the merit of our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ, and that those who are thus justified are saved forever.

We believe that every saved person should follow the Lord in baptism, by immersion, and should join and maintain an active membership in a local, New Testament Church.

We believe that the ordinances of the New Testament Church are Baptism and the Lord's Supper.

We believe in the everlasting conscious blessedness of the saved and the everlasting conscious punishment of the lost.

We believe that the Holy Spirit convicts of sin, converts the repentant, seals God's children and endues them with soulwinning power.

We believe that modern-day speaking in tongues is both a doctrinal and practical error and, therefore, is neither to be sought nor practiced.

We believe that the Word of God is sufficient for doctrine and instruction in righteousness, and that both Arminian and Calvanistic doctrine is to be shunned in favor of Bible doctrine.

We believe that the Bible forbids sexual activity outside the normal marriage bond between a man and a woman. It is plain from Scripture that homosexuality, lesbianism, bisexuality, bestiality, incest, fornication, adultery and pornography are sinful perversions of God's gift of sex.

We believe that all believers are stewards of the portion of God's wealth with which He has entrusted them. Therefore, each Christian should give the tithe as a basis for giving, and that each of us should also give other offerings above the tithe both cheerfully and sacrificially to support the needs of the Church, the relief of those with special needs and the spread of the Gospel. We believe that a Christian relinquishes all rights to control the use of all such gifts when they are given and that tithes and offerings are nonrefundable.

We believe that the local, New Testament Church is a group of believers in the Lord Jesus Christ, baptized and meeting together for the purpose of fellowship, growth in grace and the propagation of the Gospel.

We believe that God has given the Church the Great Commission to proclaim the gospel to all nations so that there might be a great multitude from every nation, tongue and tribe who will believe on the Lord Jesus Christ. As Christ's ambassadors on earth we must use all available means to go to foreign nations with the gospel.
