SEOPCO

South East Oak Park Community Organization

SEOPCO is an organization by and for neighbors which began to form in the spring of 2003 to address concerns and quality of life issues affecting the people who live in the neighborhood bounded by Garfield, Roosevelt Road, Austin and Ridgeland, as well as the area served by the Irving school.

Mission Statement

To solidify the newly-recognized sense of neighborhood by defining boundaries and giving the area a name. The boundaries are I-290, Austin, Roosevelt Road, and East Ave. (There are collaborations with the Irving Park PTO that reach west to Euclid.)

To create for the Southeast quadrant of Oak Park a positive identity for the residents and an improved image within Oak Park.

To mobilize citizens to create and maintain a vibrant and attractive neighborhood through activities that promote a positive sense of place, such as coordinated block parties, cleanup campaigns, and festivals which highlight local performance and artistic talent.

To sponsor educational and informational forums about affairs relevant to the neighborhood.
