About Us:

Sheridan County School District #1 contains 932 square miles and educates over 900 students from the communities of Big Horn, Dayton, Parkman, and Ranchester. The district has an elementary school, middle school, and high school – all on one campus – Big Horn, and an elementary school, middle school, and high school in the Dayton/Parkman/Ranchester area. The Wyoming/Montana state line is the district’s northern boundary. District #1 operates on a four-days-a-week schedule, still continued from the days when the kids needed more time to help out on their family ranch.

Big Horn High School was named as one of U.S. News & World Report’s top-performing schools in 2012 – receiving one of the national news magazine’s bronze medal awards, coming in third among Wyoming high schools.  Last year Big Horn High School was recognized by the U.S. Secretary of Education as one of 233 Blue Ribbon schools across the nation. (BHHS became the first Wyoming school since 1992 to receive this distinction.)
