Educational Goals

It is the responsibility of the Board of Education to employ administrators, faculty, and staff to accomplish the following goals of the School District in accordance with its Educational Philosophy:

The student is to be taught the skills of reading, and written and oral expression.

The student is to be taught at least the basic mathematical skills to enable him/her to function efficiently in our economic system.

The student will be encouraged to develop, express, and apply his/her powers of reasoning, decision making, analytical and critical thinking, and communication.

The student will be given the opportunity to understand the structure and function of our federal, state, and local levels of government. Students should be shown the oral, experiential, and economic basis for our laws and customs.

The student is to be presented with the history of the nation and the world; the issues that unite and/or divide the nation and the world; the geographies and cultures of the world, and the opportunity to choose form selected foreign languages.

The student is to be taught the basic sciences and the understanding of the impact of technology on his/her social and physical world.

The student's vocational, recreational, artistic, or aesthetic abilities should be cultivated, built upon, and expanded, both through curricular and extra-curricular activities.

The student shall be helped to develop self-discipline, a sense of values, a sense of responsibility, and sound mental and emotional health, as well as an appreciation of human differences, needs, and aspirations.

The student shall be helped and encouraged to develop physical fitness and personal hygiene.
