SouthBridge Emergency Medical Service (E.M.S.) is a nonprofit communityoriented ambulance service established in 1971. SouthBridge EMS, formerly known as South Hills Ambulance Service, developed a formal means for residents and visitors to the South Hills area to access prehospital emergency medical care.

At the onset, emergency care was simple. Training was minimal and there were few regulations imposed on ambulance services operating in the State of Pennsylvania.Operation of emergency care was carried out by volunteers who dedicated their time. As time progressed and more procedures began to be performed in the field, rules and regulations began toaffect everyone. Advanced Life Support, or paramedic level of care, soon began to be the expected level of care.As was proven in every otherpart of the United States, it is the expected level of care.

Our goal is to provide the patients we serve with the best care we can in comparison to the best services in the country. We are always looking for the best, not only in the region but in the nation, in order to fine tune our system. The service and care we provide can mean the difference between life and death. With this in mind,SouthBridge EMS takes its responsibilities very seriously. We feel we are here to serve the public’s need for emergency medical care.
