Mission:

All groups within Southeast Island School District (students, parents, community and staff) will work together to foster the development of positive, personal, social and academic skills, which will enable students to become productive, service-minded, global citizens. Our students will possess the skills necessary to excel in a rapidly changing world and become life-long learners.

About Us:

Southeast Island School District (SISD), a Regional Educational Attendance Area, operates nine remote schools on Prince of Wales, Baranof, & Kosciusko Islands in Southeast Alaska. There are 193 students in the district.  Our vision is to create a technology-rich and safe learning environment for all students.  Our secondary students depend on distance learning through video conferencing as a cornerstone in their education.  Our goal is to expand vocational and career opportunities for students.  The economy of all SISD communities is closely tied to commercial fishing and timber harvesting on the 17 million acre Tongass National Forest.  Seasonal tourism-related employment also supplements the economy of the area.
