About Us

The Statesville Convention and Visitors Bureau is a public authority that was established by NC General Statutes S.L. 1998-112; House Bill 1568 on August 20, 1998, with the purpose of promoting travel and tourism for the benefit of economic growth and development. The Statesville Convention and Visitors Bureau is primarily funded through the local occupancy tax; 20% of the collected occupancy tax is distributed to the Convention and Visitors Bureau for fulfilling its purpose through sales and marketing.

Organizational Structure
The Statesville Convention and Visitors Bureau has a nine member Board of Directors who are appointed by the Statesville City Council, the city finance director serves as an ex-officio board member and does not vote on any matters brought before the board. The Board of Directors employs an Executive Director to be the Chief Executive Officer of the Authority who is responsible for the operation and management of the Statesville Convention and Visitors Bureau.

The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) serves as the liaison between the Board of Directors and the City of Statesville, its citizens and businesses. The CEO recommends the direction and focus of the Statesville CVB to the Board of Directors, as well as implements the Convention and Visitor Bureau’s Marketing Plan and Program of Work.
