The mission statement of Steelville R-III Schools Technology is "to support students and staff by providing access to the tools, resources and training necessary to implement and maintain a technology enhanced curricula that prepares our students with the skills necessary to meet the many challenges of the future."

The information age has an impact on what people must know as well as on how they do their work. We are seeing changes in our community and in the school population we now serve. We now see a diversity that was not present in decades past and we recognize that the role and definition of the school must change to reflect this ever-changing world.

A plan is developed primarily to help guide us as we find the ways to provide our students with the appropriate kinds of knowledge and skills for the world in which they live. We need to prepare them for the workplaces they will find in the future and to help them develop into the kinds of people we want to have as productive citizens in our society.

As far as the staff, the plan must allow teachers to be more effective and to meet changing student needs. The instructional staff is the heart of the school and its capabilities must be developed as well as those of the students. To achieve this, the plan should combine new instructional and organizational strategies in the use of technology. In order to do this, the planning committee should represent and seek the ideas of all the segments of the community and to seek the necessary resources to accomplish this goal.
