Hi I'm Nancy,

I just want to fill you in on a resent commitment I have taken on. I will be walking this summer in the Susan G. Komen walk for the cure. Virtually every major advance in the fight on breast cancer in the last 28 years has come from the Komen Cure Grant.  Directly coming from walkers like me.  It started with one sister making a promise to a dying sister.  My commitment is a tough one, I know.  But so is breast cancer. I have started my training by now, walking or biking every day.  The walk is 60 miles over 3 days.  Let me give you some prospective of that.  From my house to the last exit of  Port Clinton one way is approx. 60 miles.  Here's another one. From my house to the last exit in Medina (route18) and back to my house is also 60 miles. That's a lot of walking, again over 3 days.  Weather will play no part in this annual event. We walk in the rain, wind, humidity, or summer's heat. I will be sleeping  over night in a 2 person tent with about 1000 others. What would motivate an about to be 60 year old woman with fibromyalgia to do such a walk. That is the question I am most commonly asked. When you hear that breast cancer kills someone every 69 seconds everyday of the year, one might stop to wonder.  That one of eight women will be diagnosed with breast cancer. You might stop to think, do I know someone.?  Or  that  some 200,000 American women will be diagnosed with  this disease yearly.  You might say Oh my God, like I did. That makes my walk seem smaller & shorter. I have 4 grandchildren. Only one of them a  girl, our Kennedy. My walk will be for her!  If we can cure breast cancer in her lifetime so she never has to be one of those 69 second victims.  I'd walk every year. Wouldn't you?  We love her & try our best to protect her.  That's why I am taking on such a bold step against breast cancer.   The #1 killer of women to date!   Also, for the two beautiful friends I have that managed to survive 4th stage breast cancer for over some 20 years now.  Linda and Judy might not be here today without  such research that this walk will fund.  I love them & cherish my friendship with them.  You also must know someone who has or has had breast cancer.  I'm walking for them too.  My walk is a small sacrifice for a Big CauseMy commitment to raise $2,300 in donations is my promise to walk.  I hope to raise 3,000.  So now I have to ask you, what price would you pay to get rid of breast cancer?   You know what mine is.   Please be as generous with your donation as I am with my time & efforts on this behalf.  No amount is too small or too great.   I spend most of my day  going out to local businesses asking them to donate and sponsor me.  Keep in mind how far I am walking & how hard & long I am training in this terrible weather we've been having  lately.  I ask you to go on line to:   the3day.org/goto/60cando60   see my  official web-site & read my story.  You can make a donation right there.     I'll  let you know how I am doing.  I can't do this alone.  Just  thinking  how important your contribution is. It gives me the strength I will need to get me through this major event in my life.   As I walk and train my mind is full of hope that you will help me help wipe out this killer.  So our Kennedy never has to hear that every 69 seconds  someone, somewhere has just died of breast cancer.  I will carry you all in my heart  and in my prayers as I continue  to work toward my goal.  Another thing you can do is forward my web site on  to your  list of friends. You can tell them you know me & that I'm walking for them too. Thank you for sharing this incredible journey with me.  God bless you and keep you safe.                         NancyLeciejewski                                                  your  walker
