Thiensville-Mequon Lions Club

Club Facts and History:

- Founded in 1950

- Currently one of almost 600 local clubs in Wisconsin alone

- Membership stands at 60+ men representing virtually all industries and interests. Ranging in age from the 20s to 80s, T-M Lions are business owners and laborers, farmers and retirees, bikers and ballplayers.

- Membership in the Thiensville-Mequon Lions Club is not limited to residents of Thiensville and Mequon. Several members come from other communities, including Cedarburg, Germantown, Glendale, Menomonee Falls, Milwaukee and more.

- LionFest, held the second weekend in June, is one of three main fundraisers for the Club. They also host a Softball Tournament each Memorial Day Weekend and a Shrimp Dinner in the fall.

- Attendance at last year's LionFest was estimated at over 10,000. Event staff served guests 1,600 "Famous Chicken Dinners," 50 bushels of roasted corn and 100 barrels of beer.

- Last year alone, the T-M Lions Club raised almost $40,000 for local charities, including Interfaith's ElderCare program, the Lions Camp for Disabled Children and Leader Dogs for the Blind. The Club also contributed to the Lions International fund for victims of the World Trade Center tragedy.

- Over the past ten years, the T-M Lions Club has donated $362,582 to charitable causes. Because the Club is supported entirely by its members, sponsors and volunteers, there are no administrative costs and 100 percent of net proceeds from all fundraising events are returned to the community.
