Thomas A. Edison School

8200 Gross Point Rd
847-966-6210

Edison School was built in 1956 and, while physically located in Morton Grove, Illinois, primarily services children from Skokie. Therefore, we have the best of both worlds. We are able to draw on the resources of two great communities that both reach out to their residents' needs.

Children in grades 3 through 5 attend classes at Edison from 8:30 AM until 3:00 PM. Our mascot is the Dolphin.

The Edison community is very culturally diverse. About 200 of our 500 students speak foreign languages at home and represent countries from all over the world. The Edison community works together to make people of all nations and backgrounds feel comfortable and welcome in our school. We are proud of our Edison Spirit!

Volunteers

Our school has many volunteers who work with students in academic areas such as English as a Second Language. They may also donate time for office and clerical assistance. Give us a call if you would like to be a volunteer.

PTA

District 69 has a very strong, active PTA. Among the many things they sponsor are exceptional cultural arts programs throughout the year for the children. They also host informative, educational programs for parents. PTA runs an Art Appreciation Program, providing a volunteer parent "teacher" for each of our 20 classrooms on a monthly basis. They also organize and run our annual Field Days activity at the end of the year. If you're not a member of the PTA, it's never too late to join!

Finally, the Edison Staff, along with the rest of District 69, supports the United Way each year. It is our way of reaching out and saying that we care!

Would YOU like to help the Edison Community? Our PTA is currently sponsoring a project designed to help make purchases for our school. We are collecting General Mills box tops with the proof of purchase stamp. If you would like to participate in this effort, please send your General Mills box tops to us.
