Founded in the early 1930s, Edgewood was the homestead of a number of families that still maintain deep roots in the community. Later, in 1999, large areas of land were annexed after the incorporation of Edgewood extending its boundaries into Bernalillo, Sandoval, and Santa Fe counties.

The Town of Edgewood now stretches out over a 16 mile area in the southwestern portion of Santa Fe County. Located 20 miles East of Albuquerque on Interstate 40, Edgewood is considered a bedroom community for commuters. It is 51 miles South of the City of Santa Fe, which is the county seat.
