Town of Erwin

100 West F Street

About Us:

The history of Erwin dates only from the 1900's, but the community is located in an area rich in history that stretches back to colonial times. Erwin is located near the site of the old settlement of Averasboro, which finds mention in accounts of both the Revolutionary War and the War Between the States.

Erwin lies on the east side of the Cape Fear River on low but well drained lands. Located in the eastern part of the state, Erwin is within easy driving distances of both the beaches of North Carolina and South Carolina and the Blue Ridge Mountains of western North Carolina. Erwin is just four miles west of Interstate 95 and bisected by three major routes: 55, 421 and 217. Travel and accessibility to this area are excellent. Erwin may be small but it offers many advantages of large city living, still maintaining the charm and peaceful attitude of a small southern community.

There are eleven major colleges and universities within 90 minutes driving distance from Erwin. Campbell University is just seven miles west of Erwin and offers graduate programs in business, education, guidance and counseling, a pharmacy school and a law school. Erwin's public school system is through Harnett County Board of Education and there are also private schools located nearby.
