New Baden, a Village of 3,349 residents, is located 11 miles east of Scott AFB on Route 161. With Interstate 64 at its doorstep, it's about 25 minutes from downtown St. Louis. New Baden is a two-county community. The majority of residents reside in Clinton County, where as a smaller portion reside in St. Clair County. 

Recreational and activity centers include the O. W. Billhartz Civic Center, which houses the New Baden Public Library, a gymnasium and a cafeteria/community room. The Civic Center is used by Village Organizations to hold meetings and social and fund-raising activities. 

The 41-acre New Baden Community Park has a swimming pool, tennis courts, ball diamonds, soccer field, hockey rink, skate-park, asphalt walking path (1-mile in length), play-ground equipment, sand volleyball court, basketball court, and picnic facilities. The Park Pavilions can be reserved through-out the spring and summer for a small fee. The Legion Memorial Swimming Pool is open daily from Memorial Day to mid-August. New Baden is served by four fine churches: St. George Catholic Church, New Baden United Methodist Church, First Baptist Church of New Baden and the Zion United Church of Christ. Students from New Baden enroll in Wesclin Community Unit School District #3. New Baden Elementary School is for pre-kindergarten through fourth grade and St. George Elementary School is for grades fifth and sixth. The Wesclin Junior-Senior High School, located between New Baden and Trenton on State Route 160, serves the communities of New Baden, Trenton and New Memphis. There is also a parochial school in the area, Mater Dei Catholic High School. This school is located in Breese. For families residing in the St. Clair County portion of New Baden, students will enroll in Mascoutah Community Unit School District #19.
