About

Village is nestled between NY Route 284 and the Appalachian Trail on the southwestern edge of Orange County, New York. We share a common border with the Town of Wantage in northwestern New Jersey.

Although originally settled 50 years BEFORE the start of the AMERICAN REVOLUTION, it was not until the early 1820's that the settlement began answering to the name of "Unionville". Another 48 years would pass before the OFFICIAL INCORPORATION of the village took place on August 22, 1871. Presently we number fewer than 600 souls in about 200 households.

Once a bustling commercial center for the Town of Minisink's wide-spread dairy industry, we were side-stepped by the economic and transportation explosions of the second half of the 20th century. However, despite being located "off the beaten track", we are still relatively close to large commercial, manufacturing, distribution and industrial centers and we have adapted very nicely to our present role as a quiet little "bedroom and/or second home" community.
