The goals of our Police Department is to promote a sense of safety and quality life in West Jefferson, by providing services with the user friendly attitude with the community and our schools. We view the people of our village as customers who deserve our concern, care, and attention. We believe in open communications with an open door policy with the community.

The Department currently employs 10 full-time officers, 5 part-time officers, and 13 volunteer auxiliary officers made up of local citizens. These auxiliaries are uniformed and help out with school functions such as athletic events, and also provide help with the July 4th Streetfest and Ox Roast. There is 1 Chief, 1 Lieutenant, 2 Sergeants, and 11 Patrolman. In Communications, we have 4 full-time dispatchers and 3 part-time dispatchers. We have three marked cruisers and one unmarked car. We try to maintain two officers on duty at all times.
