William Tennent House Association

The William Tennent House Association is committed to the restoration and preservation of the home of the Reverend William Tennent, founder of the once nearby Log College in Warminster - the first academy in America for the training of Presbyterian ministers and the first college in Pennsylvania, to which many colleges throughout the nation can trace their spiritual origins. Our goal is to eventually open the house to all ages for educational tours, lectures, presentations, special events and to establish a museum and library with Tennent and Warminster Township related relics and documents for public education and research.

We are in need of members and volunteers interested in fundraising and grant writing to secure the necessary funds for the structural study, restoration and preservation project. We also welcome all who are interested in contributing to the ongoing maintenance and landscaping needs of the property, newsletter publication, and Facebook as well as any financial support.

Please join us in our efforts to offer this most historic and unique home to our local community and share how this site became an honored part of higher education in early America. A monument stands on the site of the Log College and lists 63 descendant colleges and universities. William Tennent sparked the beginning of higher education in the middle colonies right here in Warminster Township.
