Adam C. Young, MD, is a board-certified anesthesiologist and pain management physician, fellowship-trained in pain management. He attended the University of Illinois College of Medicine in Rockford and completed his residency and fellowship training at Rush University Medical Center in Chicago. As an anesthesiologist and interventional pain management physician, Dr. Young understands the complex nature of pain, including physical impairment, emotional and psychological distress, and its effect on normal human function. Since pain can affect each individual differently, it is important that Dr. Young takes time to understand his patients’ unique story, develop trust, and provide a sense of comfort. While identifying an underlying cause of pain is the most important step in the treatment of pain, different diagnoses require different treatments. For that reason, Dr. Young offers a variety of procedures and treatment options, including injection therapy, interspinous vertebral decompression, and spinal cord stimulation. Through these approaches, Dr. Young has assisted his patients in returning to activities that were previously problematic and enjoy an improved quality of life. As a student, Dr. Young was interested in biology, chemistry and math. He frequently read mystery novels and likened the challenge to deciphering clues to solve a case to understanding human biology and nature of disease that can affect it. This, along with his passion to help fellow human beings, made it an easy decision to pursue a career in medicine. An avid Chicago sports fan, Dr. Young stays active by running and playing golf. He spends time with his wife and three children, whether it be traveling or trying new restaurants. He also enjoys photography and listening to live music.
