I became interested in medicine while volunteering in emergency medical services (EMS) when I was an undergraduate student at Campbell University. I quickly realized that it was my calling to care for others in order to give back to my community. Having been an orthopaedic patient several times myself, I had a keen appreciation for the significant impact this specialty can have in ones life. It soon became my goal to become an orthopaedic surgeon in order to serve the people of eastern North Carolina. My clinical interests include spine surgery, scoliosis management, pediatric orthopaedic care and upper extremity orthopaedic care. Caring for people with spine conditions is a complex journey that requires consideration not only of the imaging and symptoms, but more importantly of the goals and values of the individual patient. I spend most of my spare time with my wife and 1-year-old daughter. I also enjoy spending time outdoors, particularly camping, whitewater rafting, water skiing and golfing.
