Dr. Freedy is a Professor of Family Medicine at the Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC). He is trained as both a PhD Clinical Psychologist (1990, Kent State University) as well as a board-certified family physician (MD 2002, MUSC; Trident-MUSC Family Medicine Residency 2002-2005). He has over 20 years of faculty experience at MUSC. Dr. Freedy’s clinical practice is located on James Island (Ellis Oaks). His educational efforts include work with medical students, resident physicians, psychology interns/postdoctoral fellows, and peer-professional colleagues. His clinical and research interests include: violence and traumatic stress; occupational stress/burnout; mental health/behavioral science in primary care; and doctor-patient relationship.
