Mahan Ghiassi, MD

Dr. Mahan Ghiassi grew up in Nashville, TN and received his bachelor’s degree in neuroscience from Vanderbilt University. He was one of three students selected to early admission to Vanderbilt Medical School where he completed his medical degree. He was subsequently accepted to Vanderbilt University Medical Center to complete his neurosurgery residency and fellowship in endovascular neurosurgery. He is a fellow of the American Association of Neurological Surgeons. He is a member of Congress of Neurological Surgeons, Society of NeuroInterventional Surgery, American Medical Association and Southern Neurosurgical Society. Dr. Ghiassi’s neurosurgical expertise includes cerebrovascular disorders (aneurysms, arteriovenous malformations, cavernous malformations, carotid disease and stroke), brain and spine tumors and complex spinal surgery. Outside of work Dr. Ghiassi enjoys spending time with his wife and three children, reading, exercising and traveling. Dr. Ghiassi other passion outside of neurosurgery is cars. His love of cars stems from working in his father’s mechanic/body shop after school and during the summers starting at a young age. On the weekends you can usually find him working in his garage or at the race track.
