Dr. Tess Meklir received a bachelor of science degree in biochemistry and chemical biology from Wayne State University. She then completed medical school at Wayne State University School of Medicine and her family medicine residency in Anchorage, Alaska. She continued her education after residency and completed a fellowship in family medicine and advanced surgical obstetrics at the University of Missouri Kansas City. Dr. Meklir has extensive leadership and community involvement experience. She led the COVID-19 prenatal task force and was a wellness advocate during her residency in Achnorage, Alaska. She has worked within a pre-medical mentoring program, was a medical volunteer with the World Health Student Organization where she traveled to a village in Ecuador to provide medical care, and worked as a medical supply volunteer with the World Medical Relief organization. She has volunteered with Hospice of Michigan, Amigos Medicos Covenant Clinic, Cass Clinic in Detroit, Gleaner’s Food Bank, Community Health and Social Services in Detroit, the Center for Latino/a and Latin American Studies, and more. She is board certified by the American Academy of Family Physicians and a member of the American Academy of Family Physicians and the American Medical Women’s Association.
